Once you become a client of M.
B. Thomas Consultancy Limited, we will ensure that you are aware
of changes in the law before they take effect and help you to
anticipate potential problems. We take a proactive approach, using
law to protect your business. A personnel system will be designed in
accordance with your Company’s working arrangements by one of our
Employment Personnel Specialists.
Initially you will be given an
employment personnel questionnaire which will assist us in producing
your Written Statements of Main Terms and Conditions of Employment
together with your Management Personnel Manual and your Employee
Company Handbook.
Once your employment personnel
system is complete you will be given a Management Personnel Manual,
an Employee Company Handbook and WRITTEN STATEMENTS OF MAIN TERMS
AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT for each employee, in compliance
with the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978. Two
contracts of employment will be supplied; both contracts must be
signed by the employee and the employer one must be placed in their
personnel file and the other duplicate copy must be given to the
employee.
Record keeping is becoming even more important with new legislation
such as the Working Time Regulations and being able to provide
adequate records i.e. ‘Individual Opt Out Agreement’ to Work over
the Maximum 48 hour working week, could mean the difference between
success and failure at an Employment Tribunal. MBT will ensure that your record keeping is
constantly reviewed providing you with all the necessary
documentation to support any new laws that may come into force.
MBT will update your
Employment Personnel Management Manual and Employee Company Handbook
with any new employment law legislation. Your Employment Personnel
Management Manual and Employee Company Handbook will cover:-

Once the Employment
Personnel system has been completed, one of our Employment
Consultant’s can then implement the Service into your company,
explaining to your employees your company rules and procedures.
The Employment Personnel Service is backed-up with a 24 hour
employment personnel advice line 01685 376950. Often a call
for advice at the right time can help you to avoid costly
mistakes. For example, when dealing with disciplinary issues
or when implementing changes to terms and conditions of employment.
To ensure that all advice given by M. B. Thomas Consultancy
Limited is followed through correctly by our clients we will
immediately forward to you the necessary letters and documentation
for each individual case to support the advice given. The
wording of a letter in Employment Law must be correct one
simple word left out may result in an employee winning a claim
at an Employment Tribunal.
MBT will also give support during
disciplinary meetings. For example, you may have an employee who has
been with you for several years and the alleged offence is quite
serious which may result in Gross Misconduct with instant dismissal
You may feel that you need our back-up to attend the disciplinary
meeting to ensure that all procedures are carried out correctly.
This support gives you peace of mind and in the event that you end
up in an Employment Tribunal one of our consultants would give
evidence to support that all your procedures were followed through
correctly which will prevent the applicants claim from being
successful.
